This policy explains how we use cookies on our website www.hrcdc.ie.

It is a declaration of the cookies that are active on the website, the purpose of the cookies and what they track. This policy also provides you with information on how to opt out of the cookies being used.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your browser by websites that you visit. They are widely used for a variety of purposes including to make websites work or to ‘remember’ you from one visit to the next.

First-party cookies are directly stored by the website (or domain) you visit. These cookies allow website owners to collect analytics data, remember language settings, and perform other functions that provide a good user experience. An example of a first party cookie is one that is stored on your browser when you visit a site and login. The next time you visit, the website will detect the cookie in your browser, and you will not need to login again.

Third-Party cookies are created by domains that are not the website (or domain) that you are visiting. These are usually used for online-advertising purposes and placed on a website through a script or tag. A third-party cookie is accessible on your browser to any website that loads the third-party server’s code.

First-party cookies are supported by all browsers and can be blocked or deleted by the user. Third-party cookies are supported by all browsers, but many modern browsers block third-party cookies by default.

3. What cookies do we use and why?

The HRCDC do not use any cookies to collect or store any personally identifiable information about you.

We use only ‘strictly necessary’ cookies on our website.

These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features. These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are always active. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you. You can control these cookies from your browser settings using the reject all cookies settings. Some functionalities on the website won’t work if necessary cookies are rejected.

Necessary cookies have been added to the site via a security plugin. These cookies have been added for antispam purposes to monitor automatic ‘bots’ who aim to log-in to the website. Again, these cookies do not collect any personal or sensitive information.

These cookies are also ‘session’ cookies, which are temporary cookies and are generally erased when you close your browser.

Details on these cookies are detailed in the following table:

4. Managing cookies

Within your browser you can choose whether you wish to accept cookies on all websites or not. Different browsers have different settings available to you. Below we have provided links to popular browsers on how to access these settings. Generally, your browser will offer the choice to accept, refuse or delete cookies at all times, or those from providers that website owners use (“Third Party Cookies”), or those from specific websites:

Some third-party cookies drop information into your local storage or browser cache. While we have made efforts to limit the use of cookies that use local storage, it is a good idea to clear your browser cache (sometimes referred to as your browsing history) on a regular basis.
