I’ve had personal experience of the improved quality of care that results from the approach where the patient, doctor, specialist and nurses form part of an overall care team
Annual Reviews
Regulation 13 provides that the HRCDC may review the operation of declarations made by it or by an appeal panel and may, for the purpose of that review, seek information from a person to whom a declaration was granted in relation to any aspect connected with the operation of that declaration. Where a consent declaration is made, an annual review is required to be submitted by the Applicant on the anniversary date of the consent declaration that was made. An Annual Review is to be submitted for each year, or part year, where the declaration is or was still in place. The requirement to submit an Annual Review is a standard condition attached to consent declarations.
The Secretariat will send a reminder to Applicants/data controllers noting when the Annual Review is due. For convenience the Annual Review from is also available to download below.
When completed, the Annual Review form should be submitted to secretariat@hrcdc.ie.
Please note that it is the responsibility of the Applicant/data controller to fully complete the Annual Review form in a timely manner.
If the annual review is not submitted or if there are delays or a lack of engagement on the Annual Review process, then the matter may be escalated to the HRCDC Chairperson or raised with the HRCDC.
Failure to adequately engage in the Annual Review process or to submit an Annual Review to the HRCDC, may lead to a revocation of the consent declaration as per regulation 13 of the Health Research Regulations.
