New: Annual activities report 2022

The Health Research Consent Declaration Committee (HRCDC) has published its 2022 Annual Report.

Meeting 10 times during the year the committee processed 14 applications for consent declarations for new research, 15 amendments to existing consent declarations and 67 annual reviews.

Ms Brigid McManus, Chairperson of the Health Research Consent Declaration Committee (HRCDC) noted,

“After two years when our work reflected the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2022 was a year when the work of the HRCDC and Secretariat began to return to a more normal footing.

“The HRCDC met ten times during 2022 and considered applications for new research studies across a variety of different health research areas and amendments to existing declarations.

“The HRCDC  is committed  to ensuring that the public interest, balanced with safeguarding the use of personal data of health research participants, remains at the centre of its deliberations. Through this, we hope to continue to help foster trust and confidence in health research in Ireland for the benefit of patients and the public.”
